Khatta Meetha - The Podcast. Sweet and Salty: Finance, Health, Culture, & Beyond. A fresh perspective on navigating today’s complexities with heart, humor, wit, wisdom, and relatable experiences.
Welcome to Katha Meetha . We are two siblings, Yusef and Zubi. We have always been pretty close and our relationship fluctuates between parental and sibling-like. We recently lost our mother to a drunk driving related accident. This has been seismic and we thought this may be a creative outlet as well as a way to heal together and share some of our knowledge about a variety of topics, in a fun way, and hopefully create a community. Join us as we talk about everything in a real-life practical way about personal finance, budgeting, healthcare, whole health, grief, mental health, anxiety, depression, LGBTQ+, south asian culture, being a first generation American, politics, law, parenting, relationships, and much much more! Call us at (828) 552-4257 to leave comments or to be featured on our podcast!

KM S1 E2 Open Enrollment - Choosing a health insurance plan
Tuesday Dec 05, 2023
Tuesday Dec 05, 2023
Today we are talking about navigating open season and choosing a health insurance. We'll talk through the factors to consider when choosing the best plan for you.
Steps in choosing a plan:
1. see what options are available, make sure you look at the correct premiums (self, self +1, self + family)
2. Create a list of expected health care expenses (annual physical, sick visits, specialist visits, RX meds, dental cleanings, eye exam, etc.)
3. do you want to pay a higher premium (less money in your paycheck coming home) or pay a higher deductible and copay (paying more money on your medical bills)? (basically on the front end or back end).
4. Sort and compare the plans that meet your needs the most.
5. don't forget about HDHP plans with an HSA as a great retirement tax savings vehicle
6. Don't forget about Flexible Savings accounts (FSAs) for tax savings on money you would have spent on healthcare anyways
